To be able to continue the important work that is now in place, the executive committee of Central Plains Mennonite Women strongly encourages each woman to contribute $20 to support Mennonite Women USA projects. Where is that money used? * Sister-Link relationships help to connect with our global church. * International Women’s Fund scholarships support women studying for church leadership training around the world. * Leadership resources provide for conference MW executives who plan area retreats, nurture and outreach for women. * timbrel magazine, to expand the voice of women in the Mennonite Church. * Women in Conversation retreats will be offered in the Midwest and the East. * Sister-Care Seminars (one is scheduled for Southeast Iowa in November 2010) develop new circles of care for women – perhaps these are a new type of Sowing Circle – sowing seeds of compassion. * Expand the web site at www.MennoniteWomenUSA.org and support our Postcard & Prayer monthly e-letter. * Speak to many issues in the church. Please note: Mennonite Women USA receives no funding from the larger church. All of the funding for the above comes from group and individual contributions and subscriptions to timbrel magazine.

A Big Thank You
for your generosity this past year in supporting the projects of MCC, Mennonite
Women USA, Central Plains Mennonite Women, the MEDA projects of helping women
in Pakistan and Afghanistan and the Haiti Projects, and all the other projects
your group supported. I have enjoyed
working with all your Mennonite Women groups as the CPMW Treasurer the past
four years. May God bless you in the
next year.

2010-2011 Central Plains MW Projects At the June 2010 Central Plains MW Annual Meeting in Mt. Lake, MN, it was decided to support the two following giving projects: International Women’s Fund Scholarships help women around the world receive training for church leadership. This on-going project has benefited women in Latin America and Africa and India . The 2011 scholarships will be allocated in November. If your Women’s Group would like the name of a specific woman to support, MWUSA can send you additional information and if you have women who can communicate in Spanish, there is always an opportunity for relationship connection. MCC Bangladesh created an alternative job training program for former sex workers in Bangladesh in March 2008 with the encouragement of an organization that helps women who work in the sex trade. The program, Pobitra, is intended to remind the women that they are not bound by the negative labels that often describe former sex workers. To become part of the program, the women make a public commitment to stop sex work and to embrace new opportunities in the program. This project is in response to the resolution against human trafficking that MWUSA brought to the delegate assembly at Columbus 2009.
